Latest from PLP - One-day Capacity Building Workshops on Library Management and Library Period - November 2023
In the scorching heat of summer 2023, the Pakistan Literacy Project team engaged partner schools’ communities in Lahore and Bahawalpur into hubs of knowledge and creativity with the support of the Community Resource Groups (CRG). Through a series of captivating read-aloud sessions and engaging activities children, parents, teachers and communities came together to celebrate the joy of learning. These stories revolved around creative thinking, helping others, empathy, diversity and promoting peace. Other than partner schools the PLP teams have conducted reading activities in public libraries, orphanage house and children’s hospital.
The impact of community sessions extended beyond the summer, enhancing their reading habit and reading skills through various reading and learning activities.
PLP has established child-friendly Library rooms in 24 primary schools (12 in Bahawalpur and 12 in Lahore) and the establishment of classroom library corners in 10 more schools (05 in Bahawalpur and 05 in Lahore).
