With the support of School Education Department Punjab the Pakistan Literacy Project organized a series of one-day capacity building workshops across different districts, bringing together school heads for an interactive orientation on library management and library period. The workshops took place in Kasur on 28th Nov, Vehari on 18th Nov, Multan on 2nd Nov, and Muzaffargarh on 25th Nov.

The primary aim of these workshops was to empower 50 selected school heads from each district with knowledge and skills related to library management and the effective implementation of library periods. The focus was on fostering a culture of reading and enhancing reading habits among students.

School heads were equipped with practical insights into organizing and maintaining a conducive library environment within their schools. An essential component of the workshops was the exploration of various reading activities. The participants engaged in interactive sessions designed to make the reading experience enjoyable and effective in capturing the students’ interest.

As a practical resource, each participating school was provided with three sets of colorful stories adapted from Room to Read. These engaging materials were tailored to inspire a love for reading among students, with content carefully curated to align with educational goals.

The one-day capacity building workshops left a positive impact on the participating school heads, providing them with valuable tools and strategies to enhance reading initiatives within their respective schools. The interactive nature of the sessions ensured that the knowledge gained could be readily applied. Looking ahead, these workshops are poised to contribute to the larger goal of improving literacy outcomes in Punjab.
